Hi, and thanks for stopping by!
Let’s be honest right away: we’re not fishing gurus. We don’t spend our weekends chasing record sturgeon, and no fishing magazine is going to put us on its cover. We’re regular folks who just love being out on the water. We still grin like kids at every perch that bites, even the ones barely bigger than the lure. Especially those, actually.
Now, you might be thinking: wait, aren’t there already fishing apps? Oh, there are. Big, serious ones, with years of head start, large teams and maps of practically every puddle on the continent. Next to them, we’re the new kid at the boat launch, still figuring out which way the trailer is supposed to go in.
So why build another one? Because we kept running into the same small problem. You have a great day on the lake, and a month later you can’t remember where exactly it was, what you were using, or what the weather was doing. We wanted something simple that just remembers all of that for you, even out where your phone has no bars. So we started making it ourselves, one piece at a time.
We’re small, but we don’t plan to stay that way. Every new version of Vobbl gets a little better, and we have a long list of ideas we can’t wait to build. Give us a few seasons. The big guys might want to start checking their rearview mirror.
This blog is where we’ll share what we pick up along the way. Some posts will be about fish and where to find them, some about knots that won’t let you down at the worst possible moment, and some about how the seasons change things on the water. We’ll write the way we’d talk to a friend at the boat launch: plainly, without the jargon, and without pretending to know everything.
If you’ve been fishing for forty years, we hope you’ll still find something useful here. If you bought your first rod last week, even better. You’re exactly who we’re writing for.
We’ll try to post every couple of weeks, and we’ll keep making Vobbl better as we go. A lot of what comes next depends on you. If there’s something you’d like us to write about, or something in the app that bugs you, drop us a line at support@vobbl.com. We read every message, and we’d love to hear your fish stories too, big or small.
See you on the water, and tight lines!
