Bowline
BeginnerCamping & Utility
One of the most useful knots in any rope bag — creates a fixed loop that will not slip or tighten under load, yet unties easily by hand even after being weighted hard. Used for anchoring, rescue lines, securing a boat, or any time you need a dependable loop at the end of a rope.

How to Tie It
- Form a small loop in the standing line (the "hole"), leaving enough tag end for the size loop you want.
- Pass the tag end up through the hole, around behind the standing line, then back down through the hole the same way it came up.
- Pull the standing line and the loop apart to cinch the knot snug, leaving a fixed loop that won't tighten under load.

- Rope
Tips
- The classic way to remember it: "the rabbit comes out of the hole, around the tree, and back down the hole."
