Non-Slip Loop
BeginnerLoop
Also called the Rapala Knot, this creates a fixed loop directly at a lure or fly so it can move naturally in the water instead of being cinched down tight against the eye. Gives crankbaits, jerkbaits, and flies a wider, more lifelike swimming action.

How to Tie It
- Tie a simple overhand knot in the line several inches from the end, without tightening it.
- Pass the tag end through the lure or fly eye, then back through the overhand knot from the same side it exited.
- Wrap the tag end around the standing line 3-4 times, then thread it back through the overhand knot and pull steadily to cinch, leaving the loop at your chosen size.
Best For
- Monofilament
- Fluorocarbon
Tips
- Keep the loop small (about the width of a pencil) — a loop that's too large sacrifices strength without adding any extra swimming action.
